Sports Games Ranked From The 'GOAT' To 'Overrated'

From Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 3 to Fight Night Round 3 to Kelly Slater's Pro Surfer, SPORTbible has ranked each title in a different tier.

Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 3 has defeated stiff competition to be crowned the 'GOAT' of sports titles in gaming.

SPORTbible used TierMaker to rank different sports titles from GOAT status to overrated.

And the third major instalment in the Tony Hawk franchise emerged at the top of the pile.

Developed by the now-defunct Neversoft, Pro Skater 3 initially launched on PlayStation 1, PlayStation 2, Game Boy Color and Nintendo GameCube in 2001.

The fan-favourite skating title would arrive on Xbox, Game Boy Advance, PC and Nintendo 64 in the following year.

The critically acclaimed Pro Skater 3 is tied with Rockstar Games' Grand Theft Auto III for the highest-scoring PS2 title on the aggregator website Metacritic, with both receiving a whopping average score of 97/100.

Behind the beloved Pro Skater 3 is the likes of Fight Night Round 3, FIFA Street and WWE SmackDown! Here Comes the Pain, which could reportedly receive a remastered release.

The Tony Hawk franchise also made its presence felt with Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 2 and Tony Hawk's American Wasteland in the excellent and good tiers respectively.

There is a special mention for some of the gaming titles that are underappreciated, which includes the likes of Brian Lara International Cricket 2007, GameCube-exclusive Super Mario Strikers and the superb NBA Ballers.

But some titles have the unfortunate pleasure of falling into the overrated category.

The critically panned Simpsons Wrestling, which remains popular with some fans, is featured alongside the likes of Forza Motorsport 2, Kelly Slater's Pro Surfer and Tiger Woods PGA Tour 2004.
