Anderson Silva Responds To Conor McGregor's Offer Of A Fight
Although he's yet to take on Khabib Nurmagomedov, Conor McGregor already seems to have his sights set on his next opponent.
Speaking on ESPN's Ariel Helwani's MMA Show on Monday, the shy and retiring Irishman said: "I'd be interested in an Anderson Silva bout.
"I swear to God. Anderson is a legend of the game. I'm sure he's hunting for a few quid, as well."
Silva, who previously held the UFC middleweight title, was suspended by the United States Anti-Doping Agency for a year after testing positive for methyltestosterone, a synthetic anabolic steroid twice.
His ban is due to be lifted in November, meaning the way could be paved for the 43-year-old to face McGregor in the octagon.
And he is keen to do so, telling ESPN that it was a 'dream come true' to hear McGregor say he's keen for a fight.
Although the Brazilian added that he's not surprised that McGregor fancies taking a shot against him.
"He's a legend. I'm a legend. Let's go do this for the fans," he told the news outlet.
"Hopefully McGregor doesn't do the same as Georges St-Pierre. He talked about fighting me and then he run and run and run."
Taking to his Instagram account shortly after McGregor mentioned a potential fight, Silva posted: "It would be a great honour to test myself for 'fighting' with Conor McGregor. He is an eclectic fighter, and has already proven that he has to be respected. Let's make this happen!
"The UFC wants super fights, I'm sure fans from all four corners of the world want to see this fight.
"I professionally believe it would be awesome to test my martial skills with a fighter like Conor Mcgregor a real super fight!
"Now he is focused on his fight against Khabib Nurmagomedov, after this fight I am ready for this challenge! When and where he wants."

Oh and about that bout against Nurmagomedov, well, it looks like Silva isn't that bothered about tuning in, he told ESPN: "For me, personally, I think this is a boring fight because everybody knows Khabib will try to put McGregor on the ground. I believe they both have a chance, but it will be very boring.
"Me and McGregor will be a super fight. Don't run, buddy. Don't run. I'm ready for you. I think McGregor needs to take this fight. Two of the best strikers in this sport: me and McGregor. That's amazing."
