Was never in doubt

Gennady Golovkin's reign as the middleweight king continues, but the feared Kazakh KO artist was given arguably the toughest fight of his career by a game Kell Brook.

The Sheffield fighter was more than a match for GGG and arguably shaded the first four rounds before his corner called things to a halt in the 5th.

After being shook early with a left, Brook responded to tag GGG in the first and rock him again in the second. The Sheffield fighter grew in confidence and rattled Golovkin's mantra.

The win takes Golovkin's professional record to a formidable 36-0 and in doing so the 34-year-old keeps hold of his 160lb WBC, WBA and IBF straps.

It was always likely to be a tough ask for Sheffield's Brook having jumped up two weights straight from Welter to take on Golovkin.

Despite weighing in heavy than his rival, Brook couldn't find the power to trouble his opponent and almost inevitably succumbed to the brutality of boxing's most destructive pugilist.
