Manchester United star Scott McTominay shared his excitement about featuring on the cover of eFootball Pro Evolution Soccer 2020 with Lionel Messi.

The United midfielder, 22, was confirmed as a co-cover star last month and will appear alongside the Barcelona superstar, Bayern Munich winger Serge Gnabry and Juventus star Miralem Pjanic.

And McTominay admitted that the feeling of being on the box art hasn't sunk in yet.

"I don't even know. I've not even thought about it yet," he told Football Focus.

"Whenever I see myself in Asda on the side, I'll be a bit like [exhales].

"I know! But it's one of them ones, isn't it?

"It's a good experience and it's amazing to be on the cover of such an iconic game as well.

"So it's one of them things that you have to relish as well and embrace it."

When the Scotland international was asked about Messi, McTominay couldn't hold back his praise for the Barcelona captain and said: "The best ever. The best ever."

PES 2020 publisher Konami announced a partnership with the Red Devils back in July, with McTominay being named an ambassador for PES.

Bayern Munich and Barcelona also have partnerships for PES 2020, while Juventus have signed up for an exclusive collaboration with Konami.

McTominay also spoke highly of United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and the faith that he has put in the young talent in his squad.

"Experience is important, but young players are hungry," he said.

"Because somebody's played more doesn't mean they'll get ahead of you.

"There's no first name on the teamsheet and there's no given they'll play in every match -- that's the sign of a healthy dressing room.

"Age is just a number. When you see Kylian Mbappe and Marcus Rashford play at such a young age, doing amazing things it's a credit to them. They just play."

PES 2020 is slated to launch on 10th September for PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC.
