A FIFA fan is demanding that EA Sports dramatically improve the rating of legendary Dutchman Johan Cruyff in FIFA 20's Ultimate Team mode.
Koen Weijland took to Change.org to set up the petition calling for fellow fans to stand "up for the legacy of Cruyff" and have the FIFA 20 publisher make his rating a 98 on the upcoming title.
The petition has amassed an incredible 29,168 signatures at the time of this writing, with its target set at 35,000.
"Johan Cruyff is the Netherlands' most famous and best athlete ever. He made the Netherlands a serious football country and led the national team to the final at the World Cup in 1974," reads the petition.
"He turned AFC Ajax and FC Barcelona into two world teams. As a player and trainer. One of the last football players who managed to connect different generations. Worldwide. No wonder Cruyff has been an icon in FIFA 19 since last year.
"According to many, Cruyff is the best football player ever. Something I fully agree with!"
Cruyff featured in FIFA 19 as an 'Icon' and his initial rating was 94, but it would be boosted up to 95 with his 'Prime Icon Moments' card.
But the Ajax and Barcelona legend's rating was far behind the likes of Pele, Diego Maradona and Ronaldo.
According to Weijland, Cruyff belongs at the top of the icons alongside Pele's 98 rating.
Weijland explained: "In FIFA 19, Cruyff was rated 94. Doing so, he is behind Pele (98), Maradona (97), Ronaldo (96) and equal with [Lev] Yashin, Ronaldinho and [Paolo] Maldini (all 94). This shortens our iconic #14. 'El Salvador' belongs alongside Pele and Maradona.
"It is time for the Netherlands and the rest of the world to make themselves heard. Young and old. Gamer and non-gamer. Cruyff is among the best 3 players of all time.
"That is why I demand a higher ranking for Johan Cruyff in FIFA 20. And I need you for that!
"Offer a minimum of 98,000 (digital) signatures to Electronic Arts (EA) to achieve #Cruyff98 in FIFA 20."
Cruyff is widely regarded as one of the most influential players in football, both on the field and off it.
The Dutchman won three Ballon d'Ors and became a cult figure during his time at Barcelona and Ajax.
And Cruyff, who was one of the biggest exponents of Total Football used by the legendary Rinus Michels, built Barcelona's famed 'Dream Team' and won four La Liga titles in a row.
EA Sports has confirmed new legends for Ultimate Team like Andrea Pirlo, Didier Drogba and Ronald Koeman.
It was recently announced that Real Madrid boss Zinedine Zidane would be the cover star of FIFA 20 Ultimate Edition and an icon in Ultimate Team.
FIFA 20 will launch on 27th September for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch and PC.
