Liverpool Come To Agreement With Arsenal For Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain Deal

Chelsea had agreed terms with the Arsenal player but he rejected a move to join the Premier League champions.

Either Jurgen Klopp just found some money down the side of the couch or the German is expecting to come into cash sometime in the future as they look set to spend £40 million on Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain.

Just the other week Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain told Arsene Wenger he had no interest in signing a new deal with Arsenal, despite his current one lasting only until the end of the season.

The Gunners put a big offer on the table but the 'Ox' told them that money wasn't the issue. A point proved by his decision to turn Chelsea down, when there were reports they'd make him their top earner at the club.

So with the Blues denied, despite agreeing a fee with Arsenal, it looked like the former Southampton player could be spending one last awkward year at the Emirates, possibly doing the same as Alexis Sanchez.

But according to the Mirror that isn't going to happen with Liverpool having agreed a £40 million offer for the 24 year-old, having previously agreed a six year deal with the player.

The former Saint is currently with the England squad ahead of their trip to Malta in the World Cup qualifier on Friday but he could miss the game in order to have his medical and sign ahead of tomorrow's deadline.

Oxlade-Chamberlain did play in Arsenal's last game, the embarrassing defeat against Liverpool, and has actually started all four of the Gunners games so far this season.

The player's agent tweeted giving away the transfer, before deleting it:

It seems likely that Oxlade-Chamberlain will get a place in midfield for the Reds, having rejected Chelsea who were more likely to play him at wing-back.

£40 million is technically Liverpool's record fee for a player as Naby Keita won't join from RB Leipzig until next summer.

There could yet be more comings and goings from Anfield before tomorrow night is over.
