Diego Costa's time at Chelsea finally looks to be drawing to a close, with reports claiming that the Blues' striker is underdoing a medical with Atletico Madrid ahead of a big money return to Los Rojiblancos.

Costa played for Atleti between 2010 and 2014, scoring 64 times in 135 appearances while helping Diego Simeone's side to the 2014 La Liga title and 2013 Copa Del Rey as well as the 2014 Champions League final, where they were eventually beaten 4-1 by city rivals Real Madrid.

The Spain international joined Chelsea three years ago in a £32 million deal and, despite firing the Blues to two Premier League titles in three years, the 28-year-old fell out of favour with both Jose Mourinho and Antonio Conte during his time at Stamford Bridge, twice asking to return to Atleti, first in the summer of 2016, shortly before Conte's arrival, and again in January of this year, following a training ground bust up with his Italian manager.

Since the end of last season, Costa has been AWOL from Conte's match day squads, essentially being replaced by £58 million summer arrival Alvaro Morata.

Now, according to AS, Costa will arrive in Madrid today to undergo a medical ahead of a £48 million return to the Spanish capital in January.

The eventual fee for Costa could rise even further, taking the total north of £50 million if several variables are triggered during his second stay with Atleti.

The Premier League is going to be a much duller place without it's number one shithouse infuriating opposition defenders on a regular basis.

Farewell Diego, you brilliant, brilliant bastard.
