Cristiano Ronaldo has paid a touching tribute to his 'number one fan', six-year-old Santiago Flores Mora, who tragically died during the earthquake in Mexico City, last week.

The 7.1-magnitude earthquake has claimed the lives of over 300 people in the Mexican capital, so far, after devastating the city last week on the anniversary of the 1985 earthquake that caused the deaths of over 5,000 people.

Santiago was said to be a huge fan of the Real Madrid star and has now had a heartfelt tribute paid to him by the Portugal captain, who took to social media to share a picture of a shirt he signed for Santiago along with a poignant message.

According to Mexican newspaper Excélsior , Santiago's mother wrote a letter to the four time Ballon d'Or winner, last week, telling Ronaldo how her son dreamed of meeting him and saw him as a father figure.

In response, Ronaldo signed a shirt in memory of Santiago with the message, "For my No.1 fan Santiago. With love, Cristiano Ronaldo."

The picture of Ronaldo holding the shirt was accompanied by a message reading, "At this time of sorrow, I send the Santiago family and all the families who have lost loved ones a huge hug."
