Michael Owen's Analysis Of Romelu Lukaku Is Angering A Lot Of People
Michael Owen triggering an angry backlash on social media is becoming almost as regular an occurrence as Romelu Lukaku finding the back of the net and last night, those two events merged into one perfect happening that saw the former Liverpool man come in for a tidal wave of abuse after he criticised Lukaku's movement, despite the Belgian striker scoring twice during Manchester United's 4-1 Champions League victory over CSKA Moscow.
While Owen claimed that Lukaku's electric start to the season should see the Belgium striker hit 30 goals, this season, he also claimed that the 24-year-old 'hardly moves' which is an assessment that has not been well received at all, on social media.
"He hardly moves but because hes so big and powerful, he just barges people out the way"; Owen analysing Lukaku with characteristic insight.- Daniel Harris (@DanielHarris) September 27, 2017
Imagine what a brilliant striker Ray Lewis would be. Or maybe Mourinho should just fuck it and pick a combine harvester up front.- Daniel Harris (@DanielHarris) September 27, 2017

I'm almost 100% certain that he stopped watching games a decade ago - his commentary will attest to that. pic.twitter.com/lT7fbrMmEj
Michael Owen said today that Lukaku hardly moves, he keeps reading from the same old tired script. Pathetic.- esoteric (@TolanyPaul16) September 27, 2017

"Average" "Does nothing" Imagine Michael Owen's punditry had Rooney performed as Lukaku did last night. He'd still have a semi on now #mufc- Jon Wells (@JJW24) September 28, 2017
not even that idiot michael owen can put downer on tonight.. his punditry is :poop: says lukaku has AVERAGE movement in the box! Fuck off my tv!- Stuart Patterson (@MrPatterson1983) September 27, 2017
Michael Owen has watched this first half and decided to hammer Lukaku's 'average' movement. So strange?!- Louis. (@LouUtd) September 27, 2017
Given that Lukaku currently has 10 goals in nine games since joining United, and has linked up almost effortlessly with the likes of Anthony Martial, Paul Pogba, Marcus Rashford and Henrikh Mhikitaryan, perhaps his movement isn't actually an issue at all. In fact, United's attack looks a lot more mobile and fluid with the Belgium up top compared to how they performed with Zlatan Ibrahimovic leading the line, last season.
