David Luiz saw red during the final minutes of Chelsea's 0-0 stalemate with Arsenal at Stamford Bridge today and, with the Brazilian already on a yellow card, not many will argue that the Blues' centre half deserved to be sent for an early bath for his studs up challenge on Sead Kolasinac.
Joey Barton, however, initially felt a straight red was harsh, not realising that the former Paris Saint-Germain defender was already on a booking before the foul.
The former Burnley midfielder believed Luiz was unlucky to see a straight red, stating that he felt the challenge warranted a yellow and nothing more.
Harsh that for me. Yellow tops. Left a bit on him but not a straight red. To be fair to Michael Oliver, it didn't look great from his angle.

When Barton was made aware that it was in fact a second yellow for Luiz, he then agreed that the Brazilian deserved to receive his marching orders, but some people still weren't impressed with the former Manchester City and Newcastle man's assessment of the situation.
Didnt realise David Luiz had been booked earlier. So definitely a red. I'm just saying it's two yellow, as opposed to a straight red.

Seriously!!! It's a red all day. So he didn't go over the top of the ball!!!

Over the top of ball, straight leg, studs showing, full force and very dangerous, straight red to argue otherwise shows a lack of knowledge

Over the ball, studs up, straight red every day of the week

Disagree. It's probably because I'm not a big fanny like you Jack. As you were x https://t.co/w5reqGskRS

What did you make of Luiz's foul? Worthy of a straight red or merely a yellow card offence?
