Roy Keane Gives Typically Hilarious Assessment Of Diego Costa

Another great line from the Manchester United legend

If there's one thing that Roy Keane is better at doing than bossing a midfield and terrifying every living soul he comes into contact with, it's offering withering assessments of modern day footballers.

Given that Keane couldn't stand some of the teammates he enjoyed his greatest successes with, it should come as no surprise that the Irishman has complete and utter disdain for many modern players, with Chelsea's moody, shithouse extraordinaire Diego Costa the latest to receive a putdown from the former Manchester United captain.

Costa is yet to play for Chelsea this season after a major falling out with Blues' manager Antonio Conte, with the Spain international replaced in the Premier League champions' starting XI by £58 million summer arrival Alvaro Morata.

The former Atletico Madrid striker was left out of Conte's Champions League squad, with the Blues getting off to a perfect start in Europe without him, beating Azerbaijani outfit Qarabag 6-0 on Tuesday night.

And, with Costa looking on, Keane had his say on the Brazilian born striker and did so in typically hilarious fashion, during an appearance on ITV's coverage of the Champions League.

"I know he did well for them, but to me he's big trouble. He looks a bit of a balloon."

A balloon. An actual balloon. Incredible.

Keane was more positive about Tottenham's Harry Kane, though, following the Spurs striker's two goal performance against Borussia Dortmund at Wembley.

"If he keeps improving the way he is doing, he will be up there with the Ronaldo's in another few years.

"Kane is outstanding. His overall play, hold-up play and his movement, this kid is the real deal.

"He needs to be in the latter stages of the Champions League for that to happen, but the rate he is going at, barring injury, he will be up there with the best."

Personally, we prefer Keane when he's screaming at people and looking like he wants to strangle everyone in sight rather than offering kindly platitudes to players. Sorry Harry, nothing personal.
