Ronaldo's Smug Response To United Players Saying Messi Is Better Than Him

Ronaldo's Smug Response To United Players Saying Messi Is Better Than Him

Cristiano Ronaldo is a Manchester United legend. Even if he did cut his time short at the club, there are many fans that would have welcomed him back with open arms had he chosen to make the switch back to the Red Devils in the summer.

The five-time Ballon d'Or winner was incredible for United, even laying claim to the best player in the world during his stint with the club. Unsurprisingly, the United players weren't shy to take a dig at him every opportunity they could.

Writing for the Daily Mail, Peter Crouch has spoken about how Ronaldo's former teammates would wind him up by saying that Lionel Messi was better than him. Oh, and the Portuguese forward would have a brilliant response to it when they did.

"Rio Ferdinand would tell us stories about how Cristiano Ronaldo would stand in front of the mirror naked, running his hand through his hair, and say, 'Wow. I'm so beautiful!'" Crouch said.

"The other United players would try to wind him up. 'Whatever. Leo Messi is a better player than you.'

"And he would shrug his shoulders and smile again. 'Ah, yes. But Messi does not look like this...'"

Wow. Just wow.

It couldn't be any more of a Ronaldo response than you'd expect. Talk about humble brag, eh?

The Ronaldo-Messi rivalry is one for the history books. With both footballers on five Ballon d'Ors apiece - the most for any player - the competition between the two is far from done.

Ronaldo and Messi might have called it time in head-to-head El Clásico matches, but no doubt many of us want to see them face off in the Champions League this season.

What did you make of Ronaldo's response?
