Arsenal Set Two Impressive Records Against Chelsea, This Afternoon

Not a bad day's work for Arsene Wenger's men

Given their harrowing start to the Premier League season, not many people bothered giving Arsenal a chance against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge today, but the Gunners came away with a point and could perhaps count themselves unlucky not to have taken all three.

And Arsene Wenger's men also set a couple of records in the process.

The 0-0 draw between the Blues and the Gunners meant that Arsenal became the first team to prevent Antonio Conte's Premier League champions from scoring in a competitive match at Stamford Bridge during their time under the Italian.

Chelsea's goal filled home run under Conte had reached 27 games before Arsenal's visit today, with many expecting the Blues to extend it comfortably against a Gunners team that has so far shipped goals for fun, this season.

However, it was the visitors who enjoyed the better of the game, hitting the post through Aaron Ramsey in the first half before Alexandre Lacazette inexplicably skied the rebound over from six yards out when it was harder to miss.

The point, Arsenal's first at Stamford Bridge since 2011, was also the first time Antonio Conte's side have been held to a draw at Stamford Bridge since the former Juventus and Italy boss took over, last summer.

And while that may not sound like much of a record for Arsenal to have achieved, given the Gunners recent form and their recent record at Stamford Bridge, it's a very credible effort.
