There are some dog breeds that are known - and loved - for being little balls of energy, bounding up to greet you as you walk in the door after a long day at work.

Then, of course, there are bulldogs, who aren't exactly renowned for their exuberance... More so for lounging around on the sofa, snoring and farting.

But at Westminster Dog Show, one little guy proved all the haters wrong by defying his breed's stereotypes on the agility course.

Rudy the bulldog absolutely smashed it on Sunday when he sped through the course - stunning both the audience and the Internet into realising that sometimes bulldogs aren't so lazy, after all.

I mean, just look at him go!

Sadly, the speedy fella didn't actually win the race - but he's still a winner in our hearts, let's face it.

People on social media were left both surprised and impressed by Rudy's run, with many saying they never knew bulldogs could run at all, let alone that fast.

One person tweeted: "This is a thing I never expected to see. And I love the HELL out of it!"

Another wrote: "Wow! That's impressive! A bulldog?!?"

Someone else said: "I didn't even know bulldogs could run and I have two!!"

A fourth added: "Look at him go! He's so fast and agile! Go Rudy!"

While another said they'd 'never seen one get off the couch'.

Mind you, not all the comments were entirely positive - some people joked that Rudy had ruined things for bulldogs, who'd managed to trick humans into thinking they couldn't run, and were destined for a life of lazing around.

"Rudy done messed it up for every lazy bulldog out there," one person quipped.

Don't worry, Rudy - we're still proud of you, buddy. Maybe next year you can even get yourself on that podium, too...

Just goes to show you should never judge a book by its cover, right?
