Some England Fans Took The Win Against Sweden Too Well

Some England Fans Took The Win Against Sweden Too Well

England winning is great, but there are always a few fans that do their level best to ruin it for everyone: don't be a dick, England fans.

For most people reading this article, they won't remember the last time England made the semi-final of a World Cup.

Even quite a lot of you who do will have been too young to have been able to drink when England last reached the semi-finals of a major tournament, while none of them will have been of drinking age (legally at least) when England last got this far in a World Cup.

With that considered, and factoring in the massive amount of boozing that tends to take over the nation whenever the sun decides to pay its fortnight's annual visit to our shores, the behaviour of the vast majority of
England fans has been pretty exemplary.

Sure, there has been an above average amount of beer throwing - which, especially if you're in the South, is just a huge waste of money - and a little bit of boisterous traffic stopping, but for this many young people to be this drunk in this weather and still maintain a modicum of decorum is impressive.

That said, there are always some goons out there and the England national team has a basically unparalleled ability to bring them out of the woodwork.

Thankfully, a good number of them have got what was clearly coming to them.

My personal favourite fail was the numpty in Clapham Junction, London, who jumped from the top of a double-decker bus, aiming for a bus stop roof, only to find that his weight was too much for the shelter, sending him plummeting to the floor.

Sympathy levels are low in this case, if I'm honest. Spare a thought too for the woman standing under the bus shelter when this moron decided to make his leap, who thankfully appeared to escape from the incident unharmed.

Elsewhere in London, emergency services vehicles were used as impromptu platforms by steaming fans, with ambulance and police calling out those who got carried away with themselves.

"Obviously we are chuffed with this result this afternoon but there is absolutely NO excuse to vandalise emergency service3 vehicles by jumping on them;" tweeted the Joint Response Unit "We are better than this England."

Yeah, we like to think that we are, but times like this do have a tendency to make me doubt that.

In Borough High Street in London, an ambulance was damaged by people climbing onto the roof, which caused the vehicle to have to be put out of service while it was repaired.

London Ambulance Service tweeted: "We're delighted with the result, but this has put a big dampener on the celebrations for us: while our officer attended a call nearby, this car was damaged in Borough High Street during the celebrations after the game, it's now off the road to be repaired."

Despite these acts of stupidity, the Met Police in London did not report an above average level of crime or call outs during the game, so clearly it is, as it always is with England, a small minority of idiots.

If the unthinkable happens and football does come home, don't be a dick. It really shouldn't be that hard, LADs.
