Scottie Scheffler's inspired form at The Open has seen him match a rare Tiger Woods record as he looks to seal his first Claret Jug.
World number one Scheffler shot 199 across the first three rounds at Royal Portrush, Northern Ireland, to hold a commanding four-shot lead going into the final round on Sunday. That included a bogey-free 64 in Round Two as the top seed underlined his credentials in his bid to win a fourth major title. Scheffler, 29, is a two-time Masters winner as well as winning the 2025 PGA Championship.
Scheffler's 68, 64 and 67 earned him a 14 under-par score, four ahead of Haotong Li and five ahead of Englishmen Matthew Fitzpatrick and Tyrrell Hatton, with Rory McIlroy among the pack at eight under.

The inspired performance so far from Scheffler has also seen him equal a feat not managed since compatriot Tiger Woods in 2006, as he became the first World Number One to hold a lead at The Open after 36 holes.
It follows recent praise by Woods, who praised Scheffler following the Hero World Challenge in December 2024, which saw Scheffler match Woods again by becoming the first male to start and end the year as world number one.
"He doesn't really do anything wrong," Woods said. "If you stand behind him and watch the ball flight it is very tight either way," Woods added.

"Yes, he's making a significant number of birdies, but he's not making any mistakes. No doubles, no loose bogeys here and there."
"You can see it around his short game and trajectory control into greens. If he has consistency on the greens he's going to finish top 10 every week and pick off a lot (of wins)."
