Tiger Woods Takes 10 Shots On The Par 3 12th At The Masters

The defending champion had a nightmare at the 12th on his fourth round and ended any hope he had of another Green Jacket.

Tiger Woods showed how difficult the 12th hole at the Augusta National can be when he took 10 shots at the famous par three during his final round of the Masters.

The 15 time Major winner was the defending champion going into the 2020 Masters but was given even less chance of winning than last year, when he shocked the world to win his first Major in 11 years.

Woods did well over the first three rounds to go into the final day on -5, though he was still 11 shots behind leader Dustin Johnson and with very little chance of winning.

The 44-year-old wasn't having his best day and completed the from nine in +2 before dropping another shot at the 10th, but his round was to get much worse.

At the 155 yard 12th, known as Golden Bell, Woods took 10 shots to complete the par 3, the most shots he's ever taken for a hole in his career.

The 12th is part of the famous 'Amen Corner' at Augusta and has been the cause of problems for many golfers down the years.

Perhaps most famously were Jordan Spieth's's troubles in 2016. The American lead the tournament after three rounds and then had four birdies on the front nine to open up a five shot lead going into the back nine.

He bogeyed the 10th and 11th between putting the ball in the water twice on the 12th and quadruple bogeyed the hole to drop well back.

He did comeback with birdies at 13 and 15 but bogeyed 17 and finished joint second, three shots behind eventual leader Danny Willett.

Tiger similarly bounced backed on Sunday as he birdied 13, 15 and 16, whilst making par on 14 too, but was already too far back of Johnson for it to matter to the final result.

As defending champion Woods will still be at the final ceremony, handing the famous Green Jacket to the winner.
