Fans Gather Outside House With Big Telly To Watch England Match

Set up a stall, sell some beers, get into the spirit

Have you calmed down yet? Have you peeled yourself off the floor/ceiling yet? OK, well, to recap - England are through to the quarter-finals on the 2018 World Cup in Russia.

They beat Colombia last night on penalties. Yes, that is correct, on penalties.

So, where did you watch it? The pubs of England presumably had record-breaking Tuesday nights, although a lot of people would have wanted to watch it at home because of their nerves.

In fact, the most common place to watch it is potentially from behind the sofa. That's probably the best view of all England matches, with a Carling in hand.

However, a picture has emerged of a crowd of people watching it from, well, behind the sofa. In fact, they were so far behind the sofa that they were on the street outside someone else's house.

The shot was posted by journalist Felicity Baker, who said: "The perils of having a big screen TV clearly visible in your front room on the walk home from @Wimbledon ..."

The opportunistic footy fans found themselves walking home from the All England Club in Wimbledon where, of course, there is a pretty big tennis tournament going on just now.

Because they couldn't get to a TV in time, they spotted that someone had a big telly in their house and stood around to watch it.

Whilst that must have been a bit weird for the home owner, fair play to them for letting them stand around.

When England's goals went in the scenes on the suburban street must have been pretty special.

Even more so when Eric Dier's winning penalty went in and everyone in the country temporarily decided it was party time.

The people who own this house now have a choice to make. They can keep the TV up, set up a small bar, and start selling beers (this is definitely the option that they should choose) or, move their TV into a different room (Boo!).

One thing is for certain, as England continue to make their way through the tournament they will have more and more tennis fans who also want to catch the Three Lions in action gathered outside on their road, watching through the windows.

England have to negotiate a few things yet if they are to win the whole thing and bring football home. Their first task is a quarter-final against Sweden on Saturday afternoon. Get through that and they'll play a semi-final during the next week.

As it stands, the World Cup final will take place on the same day as the Wimbledon Men's Final - Sunday 15th July.

Let's hope they buy a projector and paint the front of their house white for that. Pimms, anyone?
