David Beckham Earns £35,000 Per Day Despite The Fact He's Retired

Most us will never be in a position where we actually get to pay ourselves but those who do are always fairly generous with their pay checks.

David Beckham, for example, retired from football in 2013, but still makes what is known as 'a shit-tonne of money'.

After he left Manchester United in 2003, he was a hot product but he chose to go to Spanish giants Real Madrid where he was inundated with money before a big bucks move to LA Galaxy, a loan switch to AC Milan and then finishing his career at Paris St-Germain.

All that left him which a bulging wallet, of course, but it's thanks to his image rights company, Footwork Productions Ltd, that he's able to pocket a cool £35,000 ($46,179) per day.

If you listen closely you can hear the odd sound of wows and sighs. The figure is truly something to be proud of for Becks, but for many of us who don't even earn that much in a year, it's a bit like, 'you know what, piss off, mate'.

According to the reports, the former footballer pocketed £12.7 million ($16.7m) last year thanks to deals with H&M, Adidas and Haig Club Whisky.

This man is 'retired'. Most us will be happy with a pension that provides enough cash for food and warmth. Meanwhile, Golden Balls could buy an Audi TT Coupé every single day and still have six or seven grand to buy something like a Dacia Sandero for Brooklyn's pictures.

You'd be fucking delirious with it. Walking to the shop for a pint of milk, in your head, counting the money with each step you take. It's near enough £1,500 ($1,979) per hour. I'd constantly be looking at my watch, reminding people I've just made another grand and a half.

"How much for the milk, sorry, mate? 79p? I've only got a £50 note - keep the change."

According to Metro, he's made £45 million ($59m) over the last five years, which is an amount of money us mere mortals can't even imagine.

Fair play to him, of course, he's earned most of it. It's also worth remembering that his entire salary from his five months at PSG was donated to charity, because he's an all round good bloke.
