Lorenzo Insigne was hilariously lifted by an Italian teammate during training so he could reach Gianluigi Donnarumma's head to slap him in a brilliant video released by UEFA on social media today.

Insigne, who is one of the smallest players in European football at 1.63 metres, was at the heart of the laughter amongst the Italian camp before their semi-final clash with Spain tonight.

This is not the first time that Insigne's smaller stature has brought joy amongst his fellow teammates as for Napoli and Italy he is often paired with the tallest mascot with one of the most famous times being in Napoli's match against Barcelona in the Champions League.

Although, there was one point that Insigne felt that his height would prevent from progressing with his dreams of becoming a professional footballer.

In 2017, he said: "They used to say I had some talent, but was too short.

"At one point, I wanted to quit football, as the scouts all told me the same thing and I thought it might be futile to continue. Then I had a trial with Napoli and it went well."

However since then, Insigne has become one of Italy's best players due to his nimble footwork, skill, pace and his eye for goals.

The forward has been one of Roberto Mancini's vital players during the Euro 2020 tournament so far, scoring two goals with the most important being his deciding finish against Belgium in the quarter-final.

Whilst the Napoli winger has provided great laughter for his fellow teammates, he is looking to further contribute to the team against Spain so Italy are playing in the final this Sunday.
