Footage Of Lewis Hamilton Aged 13 Shows He's Always Been An Overtaking Master

Hamilton recently drove from the back of the grid at the start of a race weekend to take a Grand Prix win, as he attempts to win a 8th title

Lewis Hamilton is one of the greatest F1 drivers in the history of the sport and he's been showing off his skills since he was karting just 13-years-old.

Hamilton is currently in the battle of his career, as he attempts to win a record breaking eighth drivers world title, with just two races of the 2021 season left.

With only the Saudi Arabia and Abu Dhabi races to go, Hamilton is eight points behind rival Max Verstappen but knows two wins will win him the tile.

That race for the championship did look to be all but over just a few weeks ago at the Brazil Grand Prix, where the Mercedes driver had to come from the back of the grid.

During the sprint race, the seven time world champion went from 20th to 5th, only to have another penalty push him back five places. He then went on to win the race from starting 10th.

Footage from Hamilton's go karting days show that he's been fighting from the back and over taking for the past 23 years, so it's no wonder he's so good at it.

Whilst Hamilton's ability to come through the pack has, and still is, impressive, the British driver has plenty of ways to win a race.

The 36-year-old showed that during the Qatar race last weekend when he started from the front and pulled away from the pack early on.

Though Verstappen was given a grid penalty from qualifying, it's unlikely the Dutchman would have got close in the race, such was the pace of the Mercedes.

Things have been tetchy between Hamilton and Verstappen, and their teams Mercedes and Red Bull, for much of the season, with the pair even crashing on a couple of occasions.

The drama between Toto Wolff and Christian Horner has been close to boiling at points in the season, with Wolff getting angry during the Brazil race when he felt Verstappen had forced his driver off the track.

In the wake of that race in South America, Red Bull threatened to put in a protest against the team who have won the past seven constructors' titles.

Things will no doubt only get more heated if the two get close in the next two races.
