Yeovil Town Player Takes The Worst Penalty Ever, Hits Steward And Knocks His Hat Off

Yeovil Town Player Takes The Worst Penalty Ever, Hits Steward And Knocks His Hat Off

Yeovil Town's Tom Knowles sliced his penalty wide in remarkable fashion during an FA Cup fourth qualifying round game.

If you thought Kylian Mbappe took the worst penalty last night then you need to watch Tom Knowles' absolute shocker for Yeovil Town.

The Conference Premier side played Weymouth in an FA Cup fourth qualifying round tie, with the game going all the way to penalties after a 1-1 draw in 120 minutes of action.

Yeovil won 2-1 in a shoot-out that featured no less than FOUR missed penalties from their opponents but substitute Knowles was responsible for the very worst spot-kick for the Glovers.

Knowles stepped up for what looked set to be the winning penalty and got it all wrong. He sliced his effort so horrendously wide that it hit a pitchside steward, knocking his hat off.

The security guard wasn't in any pain though, instead celebrating with his fists clenched like Sir Alex Ferguson when Manchester United scored back in the day.

Footage of the penalty has been posted on social media, garnering over 300,000 views on Twitter.

Luckily his blushes were spared ever so slightly as the next penalty from Weymouth was leathered over the bar by striker Brandon Goodship, giving Yeovil the win and sending them into the next round.

The Somerset outfit will play the winner of Dover vs Yate but their replay was postponed due to floodlight failure and so the fixture must be rearranged.
