El Hadji Diouf Just Made A Outrageously Unrealistic Claim About Sam Allardyce

The new Everton manager will have to turn fortunes around quite a bit for this to come true.

There's quite a good chance that El-Hadji Diouf has become a more entertaining person since hanging his footballing boots up than he was on the pitch. Now the former striker has backed Sam Allardyce to do miracles at Everton.

It has taken Everton over a month to get round to replacing Ronald Koeman and when they finally do it at some point soon they'll finally end up with Sam Allardyce, a man who previously backed out of the running because they were taking so long.

Big Sam seemingly went into retirement at the end of last season when he decided to call a premature end to his time at Crystal Palace. However now the former Bolton Wanderers boss looks to be back with the Toffees.

He'll have some job at Goodison Park with the Merseysiders currently sitting in 17th having only won three Premier League games this season, after a big outlay in the summer too.

Allardyce's first role will be to steer the side away from the relegation zone but his former player at Bolton Wanderers and Blackburn Rovers, Diouf, believes he can do much more than that:

Allardyce did bring some incredible names to the Reebok during his time as Bolton manager and led them to a sixth place finish in the Premier League an a UEFA Cup place however to suggest he brought 'Champagne football' seems a bit of a stretch.

To suggest that the 63 year old will bring Champions League football seems too far as well.

Fans weren't buying it either way:

How far can Allardyce actually take Everton?
