Sweden Can Qualify For The Second Round Without Having A Shot On Target

Madness!

It's fair to say Zlatan Ibrahimovic and co have been highly underwhelming during Euro 2016 so far. After two matches in the tournament Sweden have registered no shots on target, despite a goal against Ireland, however even if that run continues they could still qualify.

Against Ireland the Swede's were frustrated by Ireland, who took the lead through Wes Hoolahan, and were lucky to equalise after their one piece of good attacking play went in off Ciaran Clark after a cross from Zlatan but they couldn't get their own shot away.

Yesterday they looked to be headed for a 0-0 draw with Italy after they'd had just four shots in the whole game and again none of them had been on target, with just two minutes to play Eder scored a winner for Italy.

Despite all that Ibra and his countryman can still manage another game without shooting on target and still qualify. The community on Reddit worked out that if Ireland and Belgium finishes 0-0 this afternoon, and Sweden repeat that result against Belgium on Wednesday then a 2-0, or more, win for Italy over Ireland would see Sweden through in second place on two points.

However Sweden might not want to rely on a result from Italy considering the fact that in 2004 Sweden and Scandinavian brothers Denmark played out an extremely convenient 2-2 draw in the last group game that was the only result that would see them both through and knock out Italy who beat Bulgaria at the same time.

If Sweden do manage to get through without a single shot on target that would be an utter farce!
