Player Sent Off For Farting In Swedish Game

Player Sent Off For Farting In Swedish Game

The ref followed through on his warning...

Being sent off in a football match is never great, especially when you don't think you've done anything wrong. For Swedish seventh tier footballer Adam Lindin Ljungkvist his unfair sending off was a bit sh*t.

In a match between Järna SK's B-team and Pershagen SK, you know those famous seventh tier Swedish sides, the referee wasn't having a gas when he decided to send Ljungkvist off for two bookable offences, both it seems for farting.

Speaking to Swedish newspaper, and website, Aftonbladet the player explained how the ref stank up the game sending him for an early bath, no doubt with self made bubbles, for cutting the cheese:

It was a strange decision, I can hardly believe it myself. I had a bad stomach and in the last minute (of the match) I farted. Then the referee came over and gave me a yellow card, then a red card.

It was my second warning, although I completely forgot about the first (warning). I was a little angry at the ref, I could not quite believe what had happened.

All I can assume is that the ref thought I was farting on an opponent. But to provoke anyone with a fart is not particularly smart or normal. I farted and I got the red card. The ref said it was unsportsmanlike behaviour.

It's certainly one of the odder reasons we've heard for being sent off and sounds like a bit of a poop, sorry poor decision by the referee. You'd imagine the man in black will become pretty famous for the incident but we don't suggest he blows his own trumpet about sending a man off for farting.

Still if his farting was potent and loud enough to offend the ref then maybe the official thought he was taking the piss, actually that probably would have been a straight red...
