The United States advanced to the quarter finals of the Gold Cup last night courtesy of a 2-0 win over El Salvador, with the goals coming from Omar Gonzalez and Eric Lichaj in a game that was packed with incident.
El Salvador were of course the outsiders compared to the United States, and so it was in their best interests to get tight to them throughout the game and let them know they were they.
However some of the players, namely Henry Romeo, took it to the absolute extreme.

In the second half, the centre-back was marking former Sunderland striker Jozy Altidore, now playing for Toronto FC, on a corner and proceeded to not only bite the 27-year old but perform an primary school trick in the form of a nipple twist.

And here's how Twitter reacted to what must surely be the first ever instance a nipple twist has been used in an professional football fixture:
Altidore was asked about the incident after the game and had a brilliant response, joking that his girlfriend was furious as she believes only she is allowed to bite him and give him a nipple twist.

"My girl's mad at me. She's mad at me and she's mad at Romero," he said, as quoted by Goal.
"She's like 'Only I can bite you. Only I can grab your nipples.'
"It's never happened to me before, but CONCACAF never ceases to amaze me.
"These things happen. It is what it is, funny enough. I shouldn't be saying these things happen, but they do. Just move on from it, learn from it, and get ready for the next game."
