WATCH: Referee Gives Red Card To Blackburn Player For The Stupidest Reason Ever

He literally pushed him with his finger

Is it just me, or are refereeing standards dropping as the season goes on?

Every week, an official is scrutinised for dubious decisions on the field, and last night, referee Scott Duncan continued that trend after he gave a controversial red card during Blackburn's visit to Sheffield Wednesday.

Blackburn midfielder Hope Akpan was sent off in the 86th minute for the smallest push on Duncan, who's overreaction is just ridiculous.

FACT: The fastest wind speed of all time was broken during the passage of Tropical Cyclone Olivia on 10 April 1996: It registered a maximum wind of 253mph.

Rumours are now circulating that a similar gust of wind almost knocked referee Scott Duncan off his feet...

Blackburn lost the match 2-1 as they slipped down to 23rd in the league. Sheffield Wednesday remained in sixth as they battle for the Championship promotion places.

I can forgive referees for minor mistakes, but Akpan's red card is just plain wrong.

Terrible decision.
