Ole Gunnar Solskjaer clearly wasn't a fan of David Beckham's mohawk, with the Manchester United manager claiming he once refused to scout a player because of the style.

Becks famously sported the cut back in 2001, playing for England, before shaving off all his hair when he returned to United that summer.

Sir Alex Ferguson was clearly not a fan of the ostentatious style and it seems it's the latest way Solskjaer has decided to take after his former boss.

The current United boss was speaking to Football Daily about what he learnt scouting Bruno Fernandes, compared to just watching him, explaining that the desire and character he saw was the key thing.

Solskjaer went on to explain he's had some bad experiences and claimed that he once rejected the chance to even watch a player because of his haircut!

It's a good job for Solskjaer and United that Fernandes had a less over the top haircut when the Norwegian went to Portugal to watch the midfielder play for Sporting.

The 26-year-old scored eight goals and got seven assists in just 14 league appearances last season, to help lift United into third in the Premier League and get into the Champions League.

His form has continued this season with another 16 goals and 10 assists in the league from 29 appearances, helping United into second in the league.

Speaking last year, Beckham confirmed that it was Ferguson's meddling that ended with him shaving off the mohican, saying, "I walked in the changing room and he hadn't seen it because I was too scared to even show him.

"I'd gone into training the day before with a beanie on, trained in a beanie, gone back, walked in the hotel, had a beanie on, had dinner, beanie on, breakfast beanie on, bus on way to stadium - beanie.

"Then as I got ready for the game I took it off, he said 'go and shave it off'.

"I giggled and he was like 'no, I'm serious. Go and shave it off'. So I had to find a pair of clippers and I shaved it off in Wembley Stadium. Manager always rules."

Solskjaer would at least be happy with legendary Brazil striker Ronaldo, with the World Cup winner apologising to mums everywhere for his World Cup 2002 haircut leading to some awful trims for kids at the time.
