Antonio Conte Claims There's A Premier League Conspiracy Against Chelsea

Antonio Conte Claims There's A Premier League Conspiracy Against Chelsea

What is it with Blues managers and their belief that everyone is against them?

A Chelsea manager complaining that the world is against him isn't exactly anything new, they had Jose Mourinho in charge for long enough, and Antonio Conte is the latest Premier League boss to think the league is against him.

Last season Antonio Conte defied all the odds to win the Premier League in his first season as Chelsea manager despite starting the season far away from anyones thoughts as who would be champions.

This season as defending champions there is more pressure on them to perform but a resurgent Manchester City and Manchester United have left them in third place in the table.

But Conte doesn't think it's just the form of City or their own failings that has seen them fall 11 points behind the league leaders but also an unfair fixture list.

Having played Swansea City on Wednesday they play in the early kick off against Newcastle on Saturday and Conte is fed up of having less rest time than everyone else. The Italian went on a long rant, saying:

"I'm not stupid. If someone wants to joke with me I'm not the right person to joke with.

"I must be honest, it happened again. Newcastle played on Tuesday night, we played on Wednesday night and now we have to play again on Saturday at 1230. It can happen once. Against Watford we should have played on Monday and then they changed it to Saturday at 12.30 after we played on Wednesday.

"Twice it can happen. Against Man City. The third time, you start to be perplexed. And now against Newcastle. I don't want advantages for my team. I want the same rest as our opponents. It's very difficult to do this? I don't think so. I think now there is a strange coincidence.

"I want to protect my club, I want to try to protect my players, I want to try to protect my fans, also I want to try to protect the Premier League.

"Now we have 11 points less than Manchester City. Yes, but if you remember when we played Manchester City they rested one day more than us. We played against Liverpool, Liverpool rested one day more than us.

"Now again, in only 14 games, four times. It is very difficult to think that this is a coincidence. Honestly. I don't want advantages, I want the same rest for my players as our opponents.

"Only this. If we have to play every two days, I'm ready. But we need to have the same rest as our opponents, then we will see what happens.

"I spoke with my club and I hope my club will try to do something about the situation. From start of the season, I don't know, I see only Chelsea to have this type of situation.

"The Qarabag situation was incredible. If you want to do this, it's very difficult to do this. This is the fourth time."

Is Conte right? Are Chelsea getting a bad deal right now?
