According to reports, Dirk Kuyt is in the middle of a switcheroo involving diamonds no less.

Telegraaf are reporting a bizarre situation with the former Liverpool player. The 35-year-old enjoyed a spell in the Premier League between 2006-2012, and the Dutch newspaper are claiming he is on the wrong end of a diamond trick.

Kuyt was reportedly fooled by a butler who would got the footballer to pay £200k for diamonds where he would swap them for fakes while selling the genuine ones to make a killing profit.

The Grand Hotel Huis ter Duin in Noordwijk's butler Marcel J has been identified as the scammer creating a service where he would get high-profile guests handing them over diamonds in return to clean them only to trick his client, though he has finally been caught through an renown jeweller.

Kuyt was swindled by Marcel who managed to convince the Feyenoord star to commit to the sale, but wanted his money back to which the butler refused, insisting the money had been spent subsequently legal proceedings are being taken.

Unfortunate situation to find himself in as well as anyone else effected.
