Zinedine Zidane Set To Offload Five Real Madrid Players This Summer

The Real boss is hoping to bolster his funds for a summer transfer spree but will be hoping it goes better than last year's spree.

Zinedine Zidane is set to have a clearout at Real Madrid this summer, selling five players in order to fund his transfer spree for next season.

Things haven't gone according to plan this season and before the current break they were behind fierce rivals Barcelona in the league and could have been heading out of the Champions League at the hands of Manchester City.

Zidane will be looking for improvements next season, whenever that is, and according to AS, he's been told he needs to sell before he buys, with five players likely to leave.

The report claims that James Rodriguez, Gareth Bale, Lucas Vazquez and Mariano are all for the chop whilst Luka Modric, Nacho and Brahim Diaz could all leave too.

Rodriguez spent two seasons on loan at Bayern Munich but the Germans decided against signing him, despite a clause in his loan deal, and he hasn't been a first team regular for Los Blancos since returning.

The Colombian was linked with a surprise £71 million move to Wolves earlier this month due to his agent Jorge Mendes' links to the Premier League side.

Former Spurs winger Bale has been linked with a move away from the Spanish capital for the past few years and isn't a favourite of Zidane's at all.

He looked set for a move to China last summer before Real president Florentino Perez decided to cancel the deal, as the CSL club didn't want to pay any money for the forward.

The 30-year-old has started just 11 games this season but has rebuffed the idea of leaving the club previously because he and his family are settled in the the city, despite not always fitting in at the club.

More surprisingly might be the decision to sell Modric. The Croatian was named Ballon d'Or winner just over a year ago but has only started 14 games in La Liga this season.

The 34-year-old was wanted by Inter in 2018 but no deal was done between the two sides and Antonio Conte is unlikely to try and sign him.

Exactly who the 13 times Champions League winners decide to replace their outgoing players with is not yet known but they have been heavily linked with Paul Pogba in the past.

The Frenchman is wanted specifically by the manager according to reports and had missed most of the season for Manchester United because of injury.

Agent Mino Raiola has even linked his client with a move to the Bernabeu and it could come to pass whenever the summer window opens.
