Zinedine Zidane Drops Hint Over Move For Paul Pogba
Zinedine Zidane has poured oil on the flames of a possible move to Real Madrid for Paul Pogba by stating how much he likes the Manchester United midfielder.
When Jose Mourinho was still manager of Manchester United there seemed to be no doubt that at the end of the season Paul Pogba would be leaving Old Trafford. The pair had a falling out that saw the Frenchman left on the bench and stripped of the captaincy.
However with the introduction of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has come the best of Pogba and, having been told he'd never captain the club again, he's even worn the armband at one point.
Last week though whilst on duty with France the former Juventus midfielder made waves with his suggestion he'd like to play for Real Madrid, saying, "Like I've always said, Real Madrid is a dream for anyone. It's one of the biggest clubs in the world. There is also [Zinedine] Zidane as a coach and it's a dream for anybody who likes football."
Pogba did go on to say that he was happy with United but there's no doubt that the whole thing set alarm bells ringing for fans of the club.
Now Zidane has dropped his own hint at a future move. In his side's press conference ahead of their game with Huesca the Real boss said:
"I like Pogba a lot and that's not something new, as I know him personally. He is different and he contributes things that few can do, as he knows how to attack and defend.
"However, he is not my player and he is a Manchester United player and we have to respect that.
"He has always said that he liked Real Madrid, but especially Real Madrid, more than Zidane."
That's quite the thing to say about a player you don't want to talk about and continuing that theme the three time Champions League winning manager also spoke about another reported transfer target.
Speaking about his fellow World Cup winning Frenchman Kylian Mbappe the Real boss added, "We can't say what Mbappe is worth, as that is something defined by the clubs.
"When I arrived at Real Madrid the cost of my transfer was 70 million euros and it was crazy and now look where we are going.
"We know what a player he is, but he is not my player and I will not speak out of respect for my players and the clubs."
Who won't Zidane talk about next?
Should United fans worry that Pogba is about to ditch them for Real?
