Wolves Set To Agree Transfer Fee With Sporting For Rui Patricio

Rui Patricio has been in the Premier League since the start of the season but the Wolves goalkeeper can only now sleep easy with his new club and former side Sporting settling the price on the goalie.

Wolves had a very busy summer as they tried to make themselves from runaway winners of the Championship into a team capable of staying out of the second tier for as long as possible and becoming Premier League mainstays.

Their link with super agent Jorge Mendes meant they were always going to make some excellent signings and that's what they did with Adama, Traore, Joao Moutinho and Leander Dendoncker amongst those joining the squad.

Perhaps the most impressive signing for the newly promoted side was Rui Patricio with the Portuguese national team goalkeeper moving to the midlands on a free transfer from Sporting.

That was because he released himself from his contract after a disagreement with then club president Bruno de Carvalho over the move, as well as the attack by fans at the training ground on Bas Dost.

However Sporting still wanted paying and were prepared to take the case to the Court of Arbitration for Sport but now the two sides are on the verge of confirming an agreement.

According to Portuguese newspaper A Bola the sides have agreed an €18 million fee for the goalkeeper.

Originally Sporting had agreed that they would sell their keeper to Wolves for the newly agreed price but De Carvalho decided he wanted an extra €1 million and the deal fell through before Patricio cancelled his deal.

The club went through presidential elections earlier this week and newly appointed president Frederico Varandas agreeing to drop the dispute at FIFA, where the club were asking for € 54.7 million compensation, to sell the player for the original price.

Wolves have started in decent fashion being back in England's top tier and have a win, a loss, and two draws, against Everton and Manchester City, and have got through to the next round of the Carabao Cup.

Midfielder Ruben Neves is already attracting interest with both Manchester clubs, PSG and Juventus all being linked in recent times.

For now the Portuguese revolution is all good though.
