Manchester United resume Premier League business following their European excursions as they visit Arsenal.

And ahead of the crunch meeting which pits 'good friends' Jose Mourinho and Arsene Wenger, an interesting transfer rumour has surfaced.

It's no secret that United are keen to reinforce their squad for next season, with Mourinho eyeing up a striker.

After Zlatan Ibrahimovic's long-term knee injury, the Portuguese boss is looking to secure a suitable striker to fill his big proverbial boots.

While local lad Marcus Rashford is producing heroics, Mourinho will also want an experience head to lead his attack.

And it appears he's looking at his cross-town rivals Manchester City. According to reports United are plotting a sensational move for Sergio Aguero.

The Sunday Times claim Mourinho is attempting to lure the Argentine to Old Trafford after Gabriel Jesus is set to be first-choice come the 2017/18 campaign.

Aguero would apparently cost a whopping £55 million with United prepared to offer him the same £230,000-a-week contract or even better.

The emergence of the Brazilian starlet has left lingering doubts about Aguero's career at the Etihad.

"I know there will come a time when I have to step aside," Aguero said on his City future.

"Other young strikers like Gabriel will be brought in. When you reach a certain age the youngsters start putting pressure on you and you have to be even better."

"I'm happy he's back now and that means I'll have to be much more focused and alert when I play."

"If I have to start on the bench once again, I'll have to accept it. That's football, I always respect my coaches and I certainly respect Pep."

Could Aguero complete a sensationally move across the other side of Manchester?
