The Player Lionel Messi Wants Barcelona To Sign

The Barcelona man doesn't run the team but he's certainly got big sway and he's not the only player who wants to see a transfer target join.

Lionel Messi is a man that Barcelona are likely to listen to when it comes to who they should sign and the forward has his eyes on a player he'd like to join him at the Camp Nou.

The recent problems at Manchester United arose because Jose Mourinho wanted Paul Pogba to know that no player is bigger than the club, and there's no doubt the manager was right.

It's not the first time that's been a problem at Old Trafford. The reason Sir Alex Ferguson decided to sell David Beckham to Real Madrid was basically the same.

At Barcelona things are a little different. Of course Lionel Messi still isn't bigger than the club really but it's difficult to say no to him and you're best placating his needs if you can.

One of the reasons the club appointed Gerardo Martino as manager was because of Messi, although that didn't really work out.

Now Messi wants the club to make a major move in the transfer market, although the club captain isn't the only person at the club who wants it to happen.

According to the Daily Mail the five time Ballon d'Or winner wants the club to splash for Paul Pogba and he is joined by Samuel Umtiti, Ousmane Dembele, Gerard Pique and even manager Ernesto Valverde.

Pogba could be available in the near future with questions about how much longer he has at Old Trafford refusing to go away, despite his positive impact in United's recent game with Newcastle.

Even if Mourinho were to leave the club there's still no guarantee that the Red Devils would be able to keep hold of the former Juventus midfielder.

With the Barca manager on board with Messi it would seem there aren't many hurdles from the Catalan end but some in the club still believe he wouldn't fit into the traditional tiki-taka style of the team.

The other sticking point to sign the World Cup winner could be the asking price. United would want at very least the £89 million they spent to bring their former youth product back to the club and would likely ask for far more.

Will Messi get his way and see Pogba join him at the Camp Nou?
