Meet The Arsenal, Man United And Barcelona Target With An £89 Million Release Clause
19-year old defender Dayot Upamecano is making quite the name for himself at the moment.
The RB Leipzig man, a Valenciennes youth product, has a whole host of European clubs monitoring his situation and is one of the most promising young defenders in the game today.
The Frenchman only joined Leipzig for a fee of €10 million (£8.8 million) from sister club Red Bull Salzburg in January but after making a real impression in the Bundesliga, Arsenal, Manchester United and Barcelona are all said to be keeping tabs on his progress.
Calcio Mercato, via TalkSPORT, say that along with Liverpool and AC Milan, both Arsenal and United are seriously interested in the Upamecano, while Catalan outlet Mundo Deportivo, via ESPN say that as well as being keen on hotshot striker Timo Werner, the Blaugrana hold an interest in him and see him as a priority target.
Though a deal for 23-year old Colombian defender Yerry Mina is all but done, current defenders Javier Mascherano and Gerard Pique aren't getting any younger and there is a need to bring in a top-class young defender - with Upamecano the prime candidate.

Barca watched him and Werner in the 2-0 defeat to Bayern Munich in the Bundesliga last week and are apparently "upping their efforts" to sign the pair.
Landing Upamecano won't be easy, given the amount of interest in him but he also won't come on the cheap. It's emerged that he has an £89 million release clause in his contract, which has its ups and downs.
Even in the current market, it is of course a ridiculous fee to splash out for a 19-year old, but then again by bidding that set amount you know that bypasses lengthy negotiations and haggling over a transfer fee.
Upamecano has made 14 appearances in all competitions this season.
