Tottenham Hotspur have singed 31 players, costing a reported £483.56 million, since they sold Gareth Bale, with the Welshman about to be number 32.

Garth Crooks claimed Spurs had 'sold Elvis and signed the Beatles' when Bale left White Hart Lane in 2013 for £90.9 million. The claim was due to the players Spurs had signed to 'replace' the outgoing winger.

Erik Lamela, Christian Eriksen, Roberto Soldado, Paulinho and Nacer Chadli all arrived but they actually all arrived before the Welshman officially left, for a then world record fee.

However, according to Transfermarkt, 31 players have joined the north London side since that departure at a huge cost.

No players joined for the rest of the 2013/14 season but the following summer Ben Davies, Federico Fazio, Benjamin Stambouli, Michel Vorm, Eric Dier and DeAndre Yedlin were all signed and Dele Alli signed in January 2015, going straight back out on loan to MK Dons.

The 2015/16 season sae Son Heung-min, Toby Alderweireld, Clinton N'Jie, Kevin Wimmer and Kieran Trippier all join Spurs, and all in the summer.

Tottenham added Moussa Sissoko, Vincent Janssen, Victor Wanyama and George-Kevin N'koudou in the summer of 2016, with no January signings for the second season in-a-row.

Mauricio Pochettino brought in Davinson Sanchez, Serge Aurier, Fernando Llorente, Juan Foyth and Paulo Gazzaniga in the next year, before Lucas Moura became the club's last signing for 18 months in January 2018.

No one was signed for the 2018/19 season but Poch somehow led his side to the Champions League final, before losing to Liverpool.

The following summer Tanguay Ndombele joined for a club record fee of £54 million and was joined by Ryan Sessegnon, Jack Clarke, who went back to Leeds United on loan, and Giovanni Lo Celso, who joined on loan.

Poch was sacked in November and replaced by Jose Mourinho, with the new manager adding Steven Bergwijn and Gedson Fernandes to his squad in January, the latter on loan.

Lo Celso joined permanently this summer with Matt Doherty, Pierre-Emerick Hojbjerg and Joe Hart making it 29, 30 and 31 signings since Bale's departure.

Only Lamela remains from the Beatles who replaced the King and now the long and winding road has led them back to the 31-year-old former Southampton player.

For Zinedine Zidane and Real Madrid, it's really more a case of return to sender!
