The price of relegation from the Premier League is massive when you consider finishing bottom of the table earns you about £100 million for the year. So it's no wonder Swansea are willing to spend big to stop it happening.
It's not that long ago when Swansea were one of the best run clubs in the Premier League, unlike many they looked like they had a long term plan when it came to managers and transfers.
More recently though that has all changed and in the last three seasons they have sacked managers in the December with this season's casualty Paul Clement being replaced by Carlos Carvalhal with the team firmly in the relegation zone.
Carvalhal has a job saving the Welsh side four points off safety, having only won four games so far this season and only scoring 14 goals in their opening 23 games, needless to say they need reinforcements.

To overcome these striking issues the Swans have eyed a very ambitious double swoop with Wales Online reporting that they have held talks with Atletico Madrid pair Kevin Gameiro and Nicolas Gaitan.
30 year old striker Gameiro has only started seven La Liga games this season and with the signing of Diego Costa is down in the pecking order when it comes to Diego Simeone's strikers but would still cost around £25 million.

Gaitan could be good for a loan deal with a future fee of around £15 million but they face competition from Everton, Southampton, West Ham and Watford (and of course historically Manchester United).
29 year old Gaitan has only started one league game for Diego Simeone's side so far this season and both players look certain to leave either in this window or the next.
Swansea will be desperate for both or either man if they are to change their fortunes around and stay in the Premier League.
