Everyone is playing transfer window catch up compared to Liverpool and fellow top four side Spurs are expected to make their first signing ahead of the Premier League season next week.

Right now Liverpool fans must be feeling pretty smug about life whilst fans of rival clubs must be updating Twitter every few minutes waiting, hoping, for some news about their own transfer announcements.

Liverpool have already signed Nabi Keita, Fabinho, Xherdan Shaqiri and now Alisson making them look like the most genuine of all of Manchester City's challengers to the Premier League title.

With the transfer window closing before the season starts this year there isn't really very long for teams to get their business done and some teams haven't signed anyone so need to get a move on.

One such team is Tottenham Hotspurs. The North London club will have a battle on their hands to keep hold of a top four spot this season but are yet to add to their ranks, however that's about to change.

According to the Mirror, Spurs are just days away from confirming the signing of Aston Villa midfielder Jack Grealish with the 22 year old expected to move next week .

Mauricio Pochettino was hoping to get the deal done before the team fly to the US for their pre season tour. Spurs fly on Sunday and it's likely to be a couple of days later but he will then of course fly out to join up with his new team.

It's thought that Grealish will be used as competition for Dele Alli in the first team and gives Spurs greater depth for creativity in the middle of the park, something they've often lacked.

Villa had initially wanted £40 million for the midfielder but Daniel Levy didn't want to spend so much and with the Championship side struggling for money the price has significantly come down.

Grealish had wanted to return to the Premier League with his boyhood club but Steve Bruce's side lost to Fulham in the play-off final in May and he accepted that he'd have to leave in order to return to the top tier.

Leicester and West Ham had previously been linked but both signed other targets instead.

Who do Spurs need to sign next?
