Tottenham's Β£25 million capture of PSG winger Lucas Moura is likely to mean Erik Lamela's first-team opportunities will be limited, and reports have emerged that Southampton boss Mauricio Pellegrino is taking a late interest in the Argentine.
The 25-year old, signed from Roma in 2013, has been sidelined for over a year following a hip injury that saw him undergo two operations.
He returned at the end of 2017 and has played 273 minutes of Premier League football this term, with nine of his 11 appearances coming as a substitute.

Lamela has 18 months left on his current Spurs deal but it is understood the North Londoners would only be interested in loaning out the player, rather than selling him permanently.

Southampton pushed to sign Spartak Moscow winger Quincy Promes but with that deal falling through, they have now turned their attention to Lamela - though his former club Roma are also said to be keen.
The potential arrival of Lamela would undoubtedly be an exciting one for the South-coast club, and a massive coup, but we'll have to see whether it does come to fruition.
In a recent interview with The Guardian, Lamela stressed that he was happy about Spurs and had no intention of leaving.

"I'm happy at Tottenham. If not, I would have left," he said.
"I feel a part of the club, I'm at home here. I am not thinking about how long is left on my contract."
