Sevilla President Confirms Talks Are Being Held With 'Elite' Premier League Player

For years Sevilla have done two things remarkably well; Win the Europa League and turn over a tidy profit on players they've brought in for a relative pittance.

Now, the Andalusian club are looking at coming full circle with one of their most successful former players by bringing him back to the Ramón Sánchez Pizjuán Stadium.

Sevilla President Jose Castro has confirmed in an interview with the club's official website that the Europa League holders are in contact with Manchester City winger Jesus Navas about a Summer transfer back to the La Liga club.

Navas left Seville for the Etihad Stadium in 2013 in a deal worth a reported £15m. Since then the Spanish international has struggled to convince many fans of his qualities, despite making 178 appearances for the Citizens in his four seasons with the club.

"There's no process underway but there has been contact" Castro told the club's website, with new Sporting Director Oscar Arias adding "[He is] a top level player who would more than an interesting option for us, as a former player and being from Seville. He's an elite player but we'll see what happens."

Navas is out of contract at City at the end of the season and, while most City fans would probably shudder at the thought of him being awarded a new deal at Eastlands, the Spaniard could be a very astute signing for his former club, having helped inspire them to two UEFA Cup victories and two Copa Del Reys during his 10 seasons at the Ramón Sánchez Pizjuán Stadium.
