Rennes Will Make More Money From Ousmane Dembele This Summer Than Last
No transfer these days is complete without a bonus or 10 and a sell on clause or something else. Because no transfer is allowed to be simplistic anymore. That though will all work in Rennes favour.
This morning Andre Gray's move from Burnley to Watford has been reported all over the place. Whilst everyone agrees the move will happen some are quoting £11.5 million whilst others say £18.5 million.
Whilst there's always going to be disparity between reports these two very different quoted transfer prices make me believe it's an initial £11.5 million up front with a further seven mil coming down the line once he's scored a certain number of goals in the bottom left corner against a goalkeeper who is 6'2 or taller.

My knowledge of how transfers works now or has ever worked is mainly limited to Football Manager but I'm pretty certain it used to be a one time exchange of money for goods, how most normal transactions take place.
Rennes will be very happy that's not the case these days. Having sold Ousmane Dembele was around £13 million last season the Frenchman could now join Barcelona for around £100 million more this summer and because of their sell on clause they may make more money from this year's move:

It's basically the same as you selling your house and then a year later the new owners decide to sell after a huge surge in house prices and then they hand over a huge sum to you, it's bit mad.
Dembele has had a great season in the Bundesliga and the interest from Barcelona came before Neymar left for PSG, now they could have spend an almighty amount to bag him.
Rennes will be hoping for their huge windfall.
