It's unlikely that money will be the main motivator on May 26th when Liverpool and Real Madrid face each other but if that's what it comes down to then Real Madrid are going to walk the final of the Champions League.

Real Madrid make ridiculous history anytime they win the Champions League by increasing their lead on every other winner of the trophy but having become the first club to win it back-to-back, since it changed from the European Championships, they have the chance to win it three times a row in three weeks time.

For Liverpool they are looking to add a sixth such title to their illustrious history in the competition and the first in 13 years, since that incredible and dramatic night in Istanbul.

There is then no lack of motivation for either team, just in case merely winning the biggest club football competition on the continent wasn't quite enough to fire players up.

However if anyone did need the dangling of another carrot to take them to another level then Real Madrid have the edge. According to the The Mail their players are set to earn 10 times more than Liverpool's for winning the trophy.

The newspaper reports that Real players will make £2 million per player bonus for winning whilst Liverpool players will 'only' earn £200k each for beating Los Blancos in Kyiv.

There's about £70 million on offer for the winner of the Champions League once everything is taken into consideration so it's no wonder the players can be offered such incredible bonuses.

Some players will also have bonuses written into their personal contracts so they could earn even more for winning the Champions League, not that they don't earn pretty well in the first place.

When Real beat Juventus in last season's final, to win the clubs 12th European title in their history, the players were also given an extra gift to reward them for the win.

Each player was bought a Rolex Submariner's Date watch, which in fairness only cost £9,900 each according to the Rolex website, that's relative pennies for the 12 time European champions.
