Real Madrid Set To Give Marco Asensio Huge Release Clause

Real Madrid's latest superstar looks likely to get a new bumper contract and it'll make it very difficult for anyone to sign him.

Being a young winger at Real Madrid can't be such an easy life right now with Cristiano Ronaldo, Gareth Bale and Isco all fighting for places but Marco Asensio has still managed to breakthrough and now he's set to get a big new contract.

Asensio signed from Mallorca in 2014 for a small fee and then spent the next two seasons on loan. First at his former club and then at Espanyol. He impressed enough to stay at the Bernabeu last term.

The Spanish winger played 38 games in all competition last season, scoring 10 goals in the process. But his path to the first team has previously looked blocked by the incredible talent around him.

However the 21 year-old really showed what he can do in the Supercopa against Barcelona in the last two weeks. He scored in both legs and kept Gareth Bale on the bench in the second game.

Now Marca are reporting that Real are set to offer him a new contract and, in an attempt to keep any interested teams well away from him, will add a €500 million release clause into the new deal.

The newspaper report that the idea is to make him as important in terms of his contract release clause as Toni Kroos and Luka Modric, high praise indeed for such a young player.

In fact that kind of release clause will make him worth more than Lionel Messi and proves just how ridiculously low Neymar's release fee of £198 million actually was, it was always far too affordable.

On top of the new 'worth' the former Mallorca winger would also add two years onto his deal, taking it to 2023, and earn another one million euros a year on his current wages.

In a side that already boasts such wonderful talent it shows just how much Asensio has developed that Zidane and the club hierarchy rate him so highly.
