Even though he announced his retirement in June, Borja Valero has announced that he is remaining in Florence and has astonishingly signed for a side that is playing in the Italian Sixth division.
Valero, who has had a great playing career across Europe playing for clubs like Villarreal, Inter Milan and West Bromwich Albion, had seemingly finished his playing career at Fiorentina.
However, after a journalist published a montage of the player with the shirt of the sixth division Side Centro Storico Lebowski as a joke, this video escalated and ended up reaching Valero himself.
When the rumours started, the club initially released a statement which jokingly indicated that they were not interested in the player.
However, Valero quickly met with the representatives of the club as he had decided he wanted to stay in Tuscany after his retirement and the deal was made.
According to the journalist Gianluca Di Marzio, Valero's retirement has only lasted a couple of weeks and he will play for the sixth division side next season which many fans have loved on social media.
Love this. Borja Valero will spend this season juggling commitments as a pundit for Serie A rights holder DAZN and as a player for Lebowski, a Florence-based team that play in the sixth tier of Italian football pic.twitter.com/dDXMq7qAJx

This man never fails to amaze. Once again deciding based on love and passion, Borja returns to the pitch to play for Centro Storico Lebowski, a team owned by the fans, born out of love for 3 things-football, Florence and The Duder himself! #BorjaValero #Greatness https://t.co/PQvVAKzdx0

He really has found his niche in Florence. I love it when players find their 'home away from home' and actually stay there for the rest of their lives.
