Philippe Coutinho Asks To Be Left Out Of Champions League Squad

The Liverpool midfielder wants his move to Barcelona but the Reds won't let him go, will this latest revelation change their mind?

Philippe Coutinho hasn't got what he wants but unlike a child taking his ball and going home he'd rather be allowed to sit on the sidelines and not play whilst being in a huff.

All summer the Liverpool forward had been trying to get his move to Barcelona. Right at the beginning of the transfer window it was his dad saying the Camp Nou side wanted him.

Then he didn't want to kick up a fuss about moving but hoped that Liverpool would just let him go without too much fuss and let it be all amicable.

When that pipedream died he decided to hand in a transfer request in order to force a mood but so far that has failed to work with the Reds rejecting three offers from the Camp Nou team.

The Brazilian has yet to make an appearance for Jurgen Klopp's team this season with the player missing both legs of the Champions League qualifiers as well as the opening two league games.

And after the Champions League Group Stage draw gave the Anfield club a plumb tie the player has reportedly been asked to be left out of the squad for the competition:

There's no reason for the club to accept his demands or to stop playing him once he's 'fit,' as he's currently out of contention with an injury.

The 25 year old can only be refusing to be in the squad in the hope that it helps force a move now or gives him the chance to move on in January.

The former Inter midfielder will hope that Barcelona's record move for Ousmane Dembele doesn't stop them from bidding again for him.

It's amazing how quickly you can go from wanting an amicable departure to this!

Will Coutinho move this season?
