PSG look to be confident in their pursuit of Barcelona star Lionel Messi, with the club reportedly telling their club stores to get ready for an 'influx of business.'

Messi told Barcelona in the summer after he wanted to leave the club, following their embarrassing loss to Bayern Munich in the Champions League, and was hoping to force a move.

He had to stay after finding out he couldn't leave on a free, with Manchester City reportedly wanting to bring in the six time Ballon d'Or winner.

Pep Guardiola's side remained favourites to sign him when his deal ends next summer but PSG have moved into prime spot to sign him, after Neymar said he wanted to reunite with his former teammate.

The Ligue 1 champions were reportedly looking into the signing at the beginning of the month and things are now looking even more optimistic.

According to FootballTransfers, the club's marketing department have briefed their club stores to get ready for a lot more trade when the deal in announced.

With Messi's deal at the Nou Camp expiring at the end of the season, PSG can start talks with the player at the beginning of next month.

Should they find an agreement with the 33-year-old then they could sign him to a pre-contract agreement in January and confirm his move for next season.

That would no doubt cause a huge buzz around the French capital and were he to move to the Parc des Princes then Messi shirts would certainly be popular in Paris.

RMC pundit Daniel Riolo recently claimed he thinks that Messi would be a PSG player next season, growing the confidence that the huge move could happen.

Until the Argentina star confirms he is leaving the club there will remain hope from fans that he stays put with the Catalan giants, though that is looking ever more unlikely.

Messi's huge wages in combination with the club's financial problems aren't a good mix, with the club's interim president recently saying he would have sold the player in the summer.

Another source from inside the club confirmed that employees in the club's office were disappointed when he stayed due to the belief it would lead to some of them losing their jobs.

Presidential candidate Emili Rousaud has said that the club's all time top scorer would have to take a big pay-cut from his reported £500,000-a-week wages if he were to stay.
