PSG Offer €270 Million Euros For Barcelona's Philippe Coutinho

PSG Offer €270 Million Euros For Barcelona's Philippe Coutinho

Just one year after the transfer saga that took Neymar in the same direction the French champions want another Brazil star.

Sure the World Cup is great and all but does anything really come close to a good old fashioned transfer saga? Well fear not they're back and this time it's Philippe Coutinho...wait I'm having deja vu!

So last summer I found myself writing about two players on an almost daily basis as PSG swooped for Neymar and Barcelona went for Philippe Coutinho, first to keep the former happy in an attempt to stop his move and latterly to replace Neymar.

From the moment they were talked about to the end of the summer there was almost daily updates, with Neymar's relatively quick move affecting literally everything so still demanding attention.

My word how I was glad the day Coutinho finally moved from Liverpool to Barcelona in January, there are only so many things you can say without repeating oneself.

So imagine my delight when I saw this story today, essenitally combining last summer's two most relentless sagas to get PSG making a move for Coutinho.

According to Mundo Deportivo the French have already offered €270 million to the player's agent, not Barca, in order to try and pair him up with Neymar.

The fact the offer has been made to the agent, rather than Barcelona, rather suggests that the Ligue 1 champions are more than aware how frosty the relationship between the two clubs probably is.

The report reckons that as well as wanting Coutinho's passing ability, proved once again by his delicious assist for Renato Augusto's goal in the quarter final loss to Belgium, they also want him to keep Neymar happy.

It's exactly the tactic Barca tried last summer and once again comes amidst talk of Neymar potentially leaving. Rumours of a move to Real Madrid refuse to go away and with Cristiano Ronaldo potentially on the verge of signing for Juventus that will only intensify.

PSG assume trying to negotiate straight up with Barcelona would see the La Liga champions tell them they need to cough up Coutinho's €400 million release clause.

It's unlikely that Barca are going to want to sell a player they so desperately tracked last summer unless they have a replacement lined up and there's not many players of Coutinho's quality lying around.

I just can't wait to write about this saga another 300 times...
