PSG Eye Premier League Star As Kylian Mbappe Back Up Plan

Paris Saint Germain really want to sign Kylian Mbappe, which isn't really much of a surprise, but they might have to accept that they won't get the chance to sign the forward. Luckily for them they've got a plan B.

Looking at it retrospectively it's no surprise that Monaco won Ligue 1 last season with the ridiculously good team that they've got but before the season started you'd have expected PSG to be the French champions again.

Sure they lost Zlatan Ibrahimovic but the capital side had just won the last four titles in France. It's just that Monaco were just a little too good, especially the ridiculously talented Kylian Mbappe.

It's no surprise that PSG are desperate to get their hands back on the title at the end of next season and it's equally no surprise that they want the teenage striker to move north and help them do that.

Unai Emery's side are apparently willing to offer £135 million but Monaco are just as desperate to keep hold of him. Should that happen then the Qatar owned club will need a back up and according to L'Equipe that backup is an £80 million bid for Philippe Coutinho.

The newspaper does specify that no bid has yet been made for the Liverpool player and that any bid will be left until there's absolutely no chance that Nasser Al-Khelaifi's club have no chance of signing Mbappe.

However the Parisiens will have to hope that decision doesn't come too late as they'd have to give the Reds enough time to find a replacement, if they're willing to sell for £80 million.

The Brazilian midfielder has long been linked with a move to Barcelona but a lot of that speculation seems to have come from the player's agent rather than the potential buying club.

It's possible Barca could move for the 25 year-old but their main target it Marco Verratti.
