Unai Emery might consider himself lucky to still be in a job after failing to win Ligue 1 last season. However even rectifying that might not save him this summer after PSG started talks with a Premier League boss over the job.

For four years in a row PSG won Ligue 1. Then Zlatan Ibrahimovic departed, Unai Emery came in as manager and Monaco were just bloody brilliant and became French champions for the first time in 17 years.

It can sometimes seem harsh for a manager losing his job simply for not winning the league, after all only one team can do that, but for a team as used to winning as PSG it was a surprise Emery kept his job. The French side also failed in last season's Champions League.

But instead of sacking their manager they backed him by signing Neymar and Kylian Mbappe. Add that to Monaco being stripped of their top talent it means there is more pressure on the former Sevilla boss to succeed.

And now there is even more being loaded onto Emery's 'things to worry about' list with Le Parisien reporting that the French capital club have already contacted Antonio Conte's people about the Italian becoming manager.

It's only a few months since Conte won the Premier League but rumours of his exit refuse to go away. Image: PA

Emery's contract at PSG is up at the end of the season however he will get a one year extension should the team reach the semi-finals of the Champions League but failure to do so will see him leave.

Conte signed a new deal with Chelsea in the summer but it wasn't an extension and the Italian's deal only runs to 2019 but there are rumours that he will leave Stamford Bridge in the summer, although a return to Italy is mooted as one of the reasons.

The Ligue 1 leaders contacted Conte may scupper another Premier League manager's desires to move to France. Jose Mourinho recently described PSG saying "There's something special. Magic, quality, youth, it's fantastic."

Conte moving to France could be ideal for all involved, especially if Chelsea can't defend their title and the Italian gets further frustrated with life in west London.
